Good 18th century Scottish oak cased longcase clock by ROBERT CLYDESDALE of EDINBURGH. This clock is in very good original condition. Typical early nice slim Scottish east coast case with long door and swan neck top. The clock case is all solid oak and has a plinth base and turned columns to the hood. The hood retains its original wooden patera and brass eagle and ball center finial.
The movement is of 8 day duration striking on a bell at the hour, the dial is brass and silvered and it has its original lead weights and original pneduleum. Robert Clydesdale was one of the more prominent Edinburgh clock makers of the time and his works are always noted as being of very good quality.
The clock has been fully serviced and is in full working order.
